    Q: How can I find the race site to pick up my race package?

    A: Take Highway 17 northbound 13km from Victoria, or southbound from Swartz Bay to the north end of Elk Lake. Turn west at the lights (Sayward Rd) to Hamsterly Beach.

    Q: What are the distances?

    A: Triathlon - Olympic distance: 1.5km swim, 40km cycle, 10km run.

        Triathlon - Sprint distance: 750 metre swim, 20km cycle, 5km run.

    Duathlon - Championship distance: 5km run, 40km cycle, 10km run.

    YOUTH Triathlon

    14/15 years: 500 metre swim, 10km cycle, 4km run.

    16/17 years: 750 metre swim, 20km cycle, 5km run.

    18/19 years: 750 metre swim, 20km cycle, 5km run.

    Note: Youth 18/19 may contact the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team to request a switch of their youth category to the Olympic distance race.

    Q: Where is a good place to stay?

    A: We recommend you stay at our Host Hotel. Ask for the special triathlon/duathlon discount rate. Also, for a detailed listing of the many hotels, motels, campgrounds etc. in and around Victoria and the Saanich Peninsula, please contact Tourism Victoria: 1-800-HELLO BC). (See our Accommodation page for more details.)

    Q: When is the entry deadline?

    A: We accept registration up to the day before the race (Aug.3). Check out our Early Bird fees on the Race Information page. Sorry, but registration is not available on the race day.

    Q: Who is eligible for the Police/Fire/Medics Triathlon Relay Challenge Cup?

    A: The rules for the Police/Fire/Medics Triathlon Relay Challenge Cup are:

    • All medic professions are eligible (paramedics, chiropractors, naturopaths, etc.)
    • Each municipal/provincial/federal precinct may enter multiple teams.
    • Each team shall have a minimum of 2 competitors, any combination of male/female
    • Each team member must be employed as a firefighter, police officer, medic, OR work as support staff to these professions.

    All entrants receive an event shirt, event water bottle, post race food and refreshments, a team photo and are eligible for all draw prizes including a mountain bike. The overall winning team in this category will be presented with the Challenge Cup. (This is a perpetual Cup that the winning team is to return to the race committee in June of the next year). Medals will also be presented to each member of the top 3 placing teams. All Triathlon BC Regulations race rules and safety requirements shall be followed by the competitors and will be strictly enforced.

    Q: Is there a bicycle safety check?

    A: No, there is no official bicycle safety check. Competitors are responsible for their own bicycle road worthiness. However, a technician from our sponsor, Oak Bay Bicycles, will be at the race site on Saturday, Aug.3 and on the race day to provide free assistance and guidance.

    Q: Will I receive confirmation of my registration?

    A: A confirmation list will be posted on this website.

    Q: What is included in my entry fee?

    A: Included in your entry fee is 1) Event T-shirt(guaranteed to first 400 entries), 2) Water Bottle, 3) Action Photo, 4) Post-race Feast, 5) Winners Awards, 6) Lots of Draw Prizes, including a Mountain Bike, and  8) LOTS of Encouragement and Support.

    Q: Where can I pick up my race package?

    A: Race packages will be given out at the race site on Friday, Aug. 2, 4pm-8pm and Saturday, Aug. 3, 10am-7pm. No race package will be given out on the race day.

    Q: Who is eligible to compete in the Masters Relay Teams category?

    A: The Masters Relay Teams category is a three-member relay category awarded both in the triathlon and in the duathlon. The sum of the three participants' ages must add up to 130-159 years. If the team's total age is 160 years or more the team qualify for the SuperMasters category. The Masters and SuperMasters categories can consist of any combination of number of men and women (as long as there are three participants on the team). There is no separate Men's Masters or Women's Masters.
